Deadlines for 2024:

During FITC LVL1:
– You will become familiar with SSI’s teaching materials and methods for their effective presentation
– You will become competent to teach both theory and practical skills in the water
– You will learn about the most common mistakes and problems that arise when teaching students
– You will gain knowledge about other aspects related to conducting freediving training such as legal issues or business policy.

Upon its successful completion, the candidate is certified as an SSI Freediving Instructor Level 1, which entitles them to conduct training and programs:
– Freediving Level 1
– Try Freediving
– Basic Freediving
– Pool Freediving

Prerequisites (to participate in the course):
– At least 18 years of age
– Possession of SSI Freediving Level 2 (or higher) certificate or equivalent from another SSI recognized organization
– Possession of SSI Training Techniques course completion certificate
– Logged at least 100 diving sessions
– Certificate signed by a doctor that there are no contraindications to freediving no older than 2 years back counted to the date of completion of FITC.

Additional requirements for certification as an instructor:
– First Aid Certificate, not older than 2 years back counted to the date of completion of FITC
– Oxygen Provider Certificate, not older than 2 years back counted to the date of completion of FITC
– Public Liability Insurance for Diving Instructor.

WATER FITNESS EVALUATION TEST required:
– 800 meters on the surface with fins, mask and snorkel in 15 minutes or 400 meters on the surface without fins in 15 minutes
– Water tread (staying upright on the surface of the water without using fins and a wetsuit) for 15 minutes

Required freediving skills:
– CWT dive to a depth of 30 meters (or 5×20 meters with 1 minute rest breaks)
– Dive to 15 meters with waiting for an unknown amount of time for a surfacing freediver, then blackout rescue from that depth
– Endurance test: 5 dives to 15 meters with 1 minute rest breaks (not required if 5x20m has been done)
– Blackout rescue from 15 meters with tow for 50 meters
– Dynamics (in double fins) 60 meters
– Statics: minimum 3:00

Fees paid directly to SSI (not included in the course price):
– 90 EURO net (L1 digital instructor kit – 93700619 Freediving Level 1 Instructor Kit)
– 80 EURO net (one-time SSI activation fee – 93700004 SSI Professional Registration & Initial Year Renewal. Not valid for those who are already SSI PRO and have paid dues for the year)

SSI FITC COMBO LVL1 & LVL2
For those who meet the requirements, it is possible to participate in the FITC LVL1 & LVL2 COMBO program, which additionally entitles you to teach Level 2 Freediving courses. The program lasts 1 additional day when combined with the FITC LVL1 course.

Below is a list of additional and/or increased requirements for participation in the COMBO program.

Additional prerequisites:
– Possession of SSI Freediving Level 3 (or higher) certification or equivalent from another SSI-recognized organization.

Freediving skills required:
– CWT dive to a depth of 40 meters
(or cwt 30 meters plus 3×25 meters with 1 minute rest breaks )
– Dive to 20 meters with waiting for an unknown amount of time for a surfacing freediver,
then blackout rescue from that depth
– Endurance test: 5 dives to 20 meters with 1 minute rest breaks
– Blackout rescue from 20 meters with tow for 50 meters
– Dynamics (in double fins) 85 meters
– Statics: 4:00 minimum
