DAN Europe’s mission is to provide assistance and protection to all divers through the largest and most reliable global network of diving doctors. Since 1983, DAN has been helping and protecting divers and conducting scientific research to make diving safer, more accessible and environmentally sustainable for all. As part of this activity:
- It offers its members many innovative services, including the world’s first insurance specifically designed for divers
- Conducts scientific research to better understand diving physiology and shares this knowledge to make diving safer and more accessible
- It also develops first aid learning programs for saving lives in water and on land.
Deepspot has been a partner of Divers Alert Network (DAN) Europe since 2021. Deepspot – DAN Partner No. 1069450 – cooperates with DAN Europe on 3 levels:
- Participation and Level 2 certification in the DAN HIRA program – identification and minimization of diving operation hazards
- Possession of DAN Dive Center Plus insurance, which covers both the operations of the Dive Center and all employed Deepspot instructors
- DAN Europe insurance promotion for traveling divers
HIRA program – risk identification and assessment
DAN’s HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment) program helps owners, managers, dive center employees and dive professionals identify risks before personal injury or property damage occurs.
The main benefit of the HIRA program developed by DAN is to reduce the likelihood of an accident and minimize its impact and effects on the diver’s subsequent life.
The program focuses on realistic and pragmatic assessment of risks that could lead to serious consequences and provides tools and strategies to proactively minimize the consequences of accidents.
HIRA LEVEL 1 – a manager or dive professional must have basic training and equipment to assist a casualty and plan actions and deal with an emergency situation. Deepspot received this certification in May 2023.

- In Deepspot we have extensive rescue plans covering: diving and non-diving accidents, injuries, gas poisoning and missing divers.
HIRA LEVEL 2 requires further training, as well as the implementation and practice of a wider range of operational procedures and emergency response plans. Deepspot received this certification in February 2024.
- Training: Additional training that covers injuries caused by dangerous marine organisms, neurological examination and AED operation
- Deepspot personnel receive regular first aid training. All are trained in the use of AEDs and advanced oxygen administration procedures. This year, the first group of employees was trained to conduct a neurological examination. Training for injuries caused by underwater life is unfortunately not applicable in our country. Our in-house Diver Medic is trained in all DAN medical programs at Lifeguard, Instructor and Instructor Trainer levels

- Equipment: Maintenance of first aid kits and oxygen kits.
- § At Deepspot, critical safety systems such as emergency equipment and compressors are covered by short and realistic checklists, each time they are carried out, they are confirmed by an employee’s signature.
- Standard operating procedures

- The activities we undertake in this area at Deepspot are, for example:
- § 20% (winter season) to 30% (summer season) of the energy comes from photovoltaic panels mounted on the roof starting in 2022
- § We use thermal water (39°C) for the pool, which reduces the need to use energy for water heating and general heating
- § abandoning the use of substances more toxic than chlorine for water disinfection
- § cooling the water that goes into the sewer system
